2005 National SCRABBLE® Championship
Congratulations to David Wiegand, the 2005 National SCRABBLE® Champion, who defeated his opponent, Panupol Sujjayakorn, 338-467, 349-463, 501-364, 441-371 and 529-331. The 2005 National SCRABBLE® Championship took place August 20–24 at the Hilton Hotel Reno, NV Almost 700 players played seven games a day from Saturday to Tuesday. After those 28 games, the top two contenders in Division 1 played a best-of-five final match on Wednesday, shown to a public audience at the hotel on closed circuit TV and telecast on ESPN in the fall.

| 2006 CanAm Challenge The Can-Am SCRABBLE® Challenge has pitted the top players from Canada and the United States against each other since its inception in 2002. The U.S. leads Canada by a record of two titles to one.
This Year’s Challenge
The Fourth Annual Can-Am SCRABBLE® Challenge will take place in Toronto (ON) on June 17 & 18, 2006. Vying in this invitational tournament for the majority of the 98 team points and the Challenge Trophy will be the seven top ranking players from Canada and the USA. Qualification is based on peak rating attained at a fully-rated tournament between the June 1, 2005 and March 1, 2006 NSA ratings list, after having played at least 24 fully-rated games.

2005 World SCRABBLE® Championship Congratulations to the new World Scrabble® Champion, Adam Logan (CAN), and the runner-up Pakorn Nemitrmansuk (THA).
Adam triple-tripled out to beat Pakorn 524-409 in Game 1.
Adam beat Pakorn 520-316 in Game 2.
Adam beat Pakorn 465-426 in Game 3 to become the 2005 World SCRABBLE®® Champion. |
